Please Note:
There is a convience fee for paying your Bill Online. This fee pays for the bank processing of the bill. Athens Utilities does not receive the convience fee. The fee will show up as a seperate line item on your monthly Credit Card or Bank Statement. The amount of this fee is set by Business Information Systems which is the company that processes the payments.
Many banks and credit unions offer free online payment services. If you use your bank or credit union then please be aware that your account is credited when your payment is sent to use by the bank/credit union. Sometimes this can be several days after you make a payment using the banks/credit union's online service.
If you signup for the Online Bill payment option you do not have to use it to pay your bill. You may use it to see your current balance and check usage history, even if you pay your bill by another method.
You can only pay the full current balance using the Online Payment option. We do not currently allow partial payments online.
You can use VISA, Mastercard, Discover or a Check to pay online.
You are responsible for paying your bill by the due date on the bill. There are numerous technical issues that can occur when using the internet for any transaction. If, for any reason, you cannot pay your bill using this online service you are still responsible for payment by the due date of your bill.
Please allow one business day for the online payment to be processed and applied to your account.
