Athens Utilities is pleased to provide you with an easier more efficient method of managing your utility bill. A new and improved online bill payment system is now available. You will receive a temporary password for the new system on your January 2012 bill. We are certain you will appreciate the convenience of secure online payment you have come to rely on as well as new features that will help simplify your online account management experience.
By signing up for online bill pay and e-statement delivery, you will not only save time you will help us continue to provide some of the most reasonable utility rates in the nation.
How Do I access my account through the new system?
Your temporary password for the new system will be printed on your January 2012 Utility Bill.
May I have my bill sent directly to my email account?
Yes! You will also be able to download and print current as well as previous utility bills.
You may sign up for email billing even if you choose not to pay online.
If submitting your e-statement payment via traditional mail or if you stop by Athens Utilities to pay, please use the pay coupon located on the bottom portions of your e-statement.
Click Here to signup for e-billing. Please Note, a link will be sent to your email account informing you that your utility bill is ready for viewing. You will need a login to the online payment system to view/print your e-bill.
May I pay my bill online?
Yes! You may use your credit or debit card. We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. A 2.75% convenience fee will be applied for Credit and Debit card payments. This fee represents the same percentage charged to Athens Utilities by the credit card company
Online Bill pay works best with Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers. Mobile phones and Ipads are not supported.
You may pay by e-check. There is a convenience fee of .60 per e-check transaction.
You may choose to pre-authorize your payment by bank draft. It’s FREE! Click here to access the necessary form
Be sure to enter hyphens when entering your account number.
Will my payment show up immediately on my online account?
No. Our new online bill-pay service is a payment system and not a real-time ledger. Your payment will be recorded when made online and you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Keep this confirmation e-mail for your records. However your balance will appear the same. You may determine your balance after payment by deducting the amount paid from the balance due. Your online account will be updated once a month when your bill is posted to your email account. Call Athens Utilities Customer Accounts at 256-233-8750 if you have questions or concerns. Please allow one business day for your bill payment to be processed.
